One of Marietta's significant antebellum homes is Brumby Hall.

This beautiful and historic Greek revival-style house was built in 1851, by Colonel Arnoldus V. Brumby

(then Superintendent of the Georgia Military Institute)

for his family.

During the American Civil War it was used briefly as a hospital by the Federal army.

On November 14, 1864, northern troops destroyed all GMI buildings - all except the Brumby home. 

Today the Brumby House and Gardens are home to the Gone With The Wind Museum.
